Sometimes I want my world to be small
Just the size of the glow of a single candle
Encompassing just me and my cats
Like a warm blanket around us
The world is a small rock hurling through infinite space
Riddled with black holes to swallow us whole
Maybe we are all alone in that dark void, maybe not
I dont know what scares me more.
So I want the world to be small
Just sometimes, just me and the little robin
Enjoying springtime in a walled garden
Warmed by a smiling sun
The world is polluted and slowly dying
Animals and plants perish before they are discovered
It happens because our ignorance, or because of our indifference
And I dont know what scares me more.
Just make my world small
A little autumnal haven with plants and pets
Harvesting what we need and giving back
Creating small safeties in an unsafe world
The world is filled with people who fight
Hurting others with bullet or hunger, always with hate
Driven by delusions of gods or by greed
They scare me both
Lets just make the world small again
Where we play and share and help
Tell stories to educate and laugh
And no one needs to be afraid.
